Robbins completed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) of a Silica Sand Mining and Processing Plant at Coonarr Creek, Bundaberg, Queensland for Sunstate Sands (Australia) Pty Ltd.
The plant is capable of producing 100 000 TPA of high grade blended silica sand product. The project included the following major areas.
• Design and construction of a primary wet preparation plant rated @ 30 TPH.
• Design and construction of a fine separation plant rated @ 20 TPH.
• Design and construction of a product storage facility.
• Upgrade of an existing coarse plant for niche markets.
• Design and construction of fresh water and slimes ponds, including floating pump station.
The project was completed on time and within budget and incorporated unique innovation associated with the blending of fine product to enable Sunstate Sands to target niche markets they had previously forfeited due to plant inadequacies.
Due to the fact the project was built bordering Kinkuna National Park, Robbins liaised with relevant statutory authorities such as the Environmental Protection Agency and National Parks and Wildlife to minimise any infringement during the construction process.
The plant has been running trouble free since completion and no doubt will continue to prosper.
In April 2001, R J Robbins & Associates completed our new Silica Sand separation plant at Coonarr Ck South Bundaberg.
I felt the project works were conducted in a professional manner right from the initial design meetings to the final plant handover and training of staff.
